Located just outside the Exeter city line, this is a highly coveted place to have a membership. With an 18-hole and a 9-hole course to play on, there is plenty to explore! 

The 18-hole course is full of mature trees, well-kept fairways, water features, and plenty of challenges. The 9-hole may be smaller, but still a fun game with many of the same features. 

Whichever course you choose, you will always enjoy your time here.

2. Woodbury Park Golf & Country Club

With two choices of golf courses and a picturesque view, Woodbury Park Golf & Country Club will make for a wonderful day trip. 

This parkland-style pair of courses is located less than 30 minutes from Exeter, and you can choose your own game length. 

The Acorns Course is a 9-hole option with rolling greens and enough challenge for anyone just looking for a quick game. 

The Oaks Course is their 18-hole offering, which has some gorgeous views from the fairways to the lakes. 

Both will provide a good game for any level of golfer!

3. East Devon Golf Club

East Devon Golf Club

Ranked in the Top 100 of golf courses in England, the East Devon Golf Club is a unique heathland course with an extra bonus: it overlooks the World Heritage Jurassic Coast! 

With challenges for any type of golfer, this 18-hole course provides a beautiful game with its bunkers, views, sloping greens, and plant life. 

If you are looking for a side of scenery with your golf, then this is the course for you at only a 36-minute drive from Exeter.

4. Exminster Golf Centre

About 20 minutes outside of Exeter sits Exminster Golf Centre

Nestled into the Devon countryside, this course was designed by a pro and is 9 holes, but with 18 tees! 

The undulating fairways and natural water features give a nice challenge to golfers of any skill level while creating a fun round.

5. Teign Valley Golf Club

In the heart of Devon (29 minutes from Exeter) sits the Teign Valley Golf Club, which blends nature and course into a nicely challenging place for a game. 

With its well-groomed parkland fairways, this 18-hole course provides players of all levels with year-round playability due to the great drainage. 

There are a couple star holes along the course, one of which holds the world record for a dog-leg hole-in-one at 496 yards! 

For a fun game any time of the year, this will be a great course to stop by.

6. The Warren Golf Club

Last but not least, we have the Warren Golf Club, a true links golf experience to the south of Exeter. It’s one of the only true links in South Devon, giving it a unique place amongst our list.

Set in the Warren Estate, which is about 36 minutes from Exeter, this 18-hole course has breathtaking views from the Dawlish Warren National Nature Reserve. It’s an enjoyable challenge for players, and it has been called one of the best courses in Devon. 

Thanks to its sandy base, the course is playable most of the year, with summer greens and tees in play most of the time.

For a course that provides variety from the rest in the area, this one is well worth the visit!
