Golf courses in Lothian

The Lothian region of Scotland barely needs an introduction for it boasts some of the finest and best-loved golf courses in the world. They say less is more, but that’s certainly not the case here with a wealth of links courses to choose from within a remarkably short distance, including some of the most famous on the planet.

Perhaps most renowned is Muirfield, one of the oldest golf clubs in the world and a sixteen-time venue for the Open Championship, most recently in 2013 when Phil Mickelson came from five shots adrift on the final day to claim the title with three shots to spare.

North Berwick and Dunbar are popular choices, along with Gullane, venue of the Scottish Open in 2015 when Rickie Fowler claimed the title. The tournament returns in 2018, so if you fancy comparing your credentials to Rickie, take a round on course No.1 of the three available.

With the close proximity to the bustling history of Edinburgh, and with fantastic courses condensed into a small region, Lothian golf options are a fantastic choice for the challenges of some of the toughest links courses available.
