Settled into the rolling hills of North Nottinghamshire, half an hour from Nottingham is Hollinwell Golf Club, a beautiful example of a heathland-style course.
This 18-hole course, set on free draining sandstone, is playable almost year-round. The fairways use the natural landscape of hills and forest to create the perfect setting to play golf. Each of the holes present a nice unique challenge for all golfers.
Having been used as an Open Qualifying course Hollinwell has a big reputation as one of the best golf clubs in the East Midlands. It also features in England’s top 100!

The parkland-style layout is well-kept and mature, and the 500 acres of Wollaton Park that it inhabits have a perfect view of Wollaton Hall through the trees along the course.
3. The Nottinghamshire

The most impressive bit about this place is that it holds two incredibly designed 18-hole courses.
The Championship Course is a true parkland course, with the front nine built around the impressive lake which is ready to catch any stray shots.
The Signature course was originally built as a 9-hole course, but was extended in 1997 by Peter Allis. Much work has been done over the years to remodel the course, with new tees, greens and water features having been added.
The result is that The Nottinghamshire now owns not one, but two layouts that compete with some of the best in the area.
4. Beeston Fields Golf Club

5. Stanton on the Wolds Golf Club

An 18-hole parkland course, Radcliffe-on-Trent Golf Club has been delighting golfers for over a century.
The golf club is situated about 16 minutes from Nottingham, with a gorgeous view of the Vale of Belvoir and the castle.

A little over half an hour from Nottingham, Coxmoor Golf Club is another heathland course made up of 18 holes.
Filled with heather, undulating greens, and a variety of traps to play around, Coxmoor is a classic heathland design that heathland lovers will cherish. Sitting on a plateau, the course also offers lovely panoramic views as you play through.
The most challenging holes here are the 5th and the 12th, which are almost impossible to hit perfectly on windy days. Golfers of all handicaps will need focus to have a good game here!
