Course overview
Royal Liverpool Golf Club is located in the small town of Hoylake in the North West of England. The golf course extends between Hoylake and the neighbouring town of West Kirby to the southwest. It’s one of the number of incredible golf courses in this incredible stretch on England’s golf coast.
Opening in 1869, it’s the oldest seaside club in England with the exception of Westward Ho! in Devon, which was opened just a few years earlier. It’s also seen a lot of history in its 150(+) years history.
The club has had the privilege of holding the Open Championship on 12 occasions. Perhaps one of the most famous Championships being when Tiger Woods claimed the Claret Jug here in 2006, brilliantly navigating his way around a sun baked and lightning fast links.
The Royal Liverpool Golf Club links can be beautiful, uplifting, challenging. It can also be daunting and devilishly difficult when the wind really blows and the rough is long. The course was designed to be a demanding test of golf and it remains so today.
