Course overview
Hankley Common Golf Club has long been established in Hankley Common in Farnham, Surrey.
The course itself was first opened for play in 1897. Originally opening as a 9 hole course, the layout and surrounding areas have grown from the club's early days.
The club's setting is in a spectacular area that includes a number of indigenous trees such as Rowan, Oak, Silver Birch and Scots Pine alongside being the home of many birds and animals. This led to the grounds of the course and nearby land being classified as a ‘Site of Special Scientific Interest'.
In 1922, James Braid assisted in the completion of an additional nine holes, creating the 18 hole layout seen today. The course has been described as the closest inland resemblance to a seaside links and has also been labelled as “one of the best inland layouts in Britain".
The 7th hole is considered one of the finest par 3s in the country and the 18th is a magnificent but challenging closing hole.
The recognition of the quality of the course has been realised through the opportunity to stage some of the top national and international events included in the Mens and Boys Home International matches.
