Course overview
The Isle of Purbeck Golf Club is set atop the Dorset Hills in a nature reserve that’s designated a site of Special Scientific Interest. The location is a stunning setting, with even the late King Edward declaring the view from this point as one of the finest in his Kingdom!
As well as some of the world’s finest heathland, visitors are occasionally met with deer from the woodland and striking views looking out over Brownsea Island, Bournemouth and the Solent. The 5th tee in particular is one of the finest views you can find on any course in the British Isles.
The club was founded in 1892 with the anticipation of the railway meaning hotels were being built and summer visitors were increasing rapidly. There are two courses on offer at the club. The wonderfully traditional 18-hole Purbeck Course where each hole is located in its own unique setting, providing magnificent views and challenges. There’s also the 9-hole Dene course which is an ideal course for beginners or for golfers of all levels to practice in a more relaxed setting.
