Course overview

Not only was Alwoodley Golf Club designed by world famous golf architect Dr Alistair MacKenzie, the course is widely regarded as the "Original MacKenzie", being his first creation in 1907. He famously went on to create some of the world best golf courses including Augusta National and there are hints of Augusta at Alwoodley with the 10th hole supposedly being MacKenzie's inspiration for the famous par 5 13th at Augusta. Today, Alwoodley holds it's own in terms of golfing quality. Not only is the course regarded as one of the best in the UK, it also features in Golf World's Top 100 courses in the World! Measuring in at just over 6,900 yards the course is a classy out and in natural heathland layout with springy fairways that cut through a profusion of heather, whins and shrubs.
