Course overview
The Royal County Down Course situated in Newcastle, Northern Ireland, just a 50 minute drive from Belfast Airport. There are two courses available; the Championship course which has often been voted as the best course in the UK and the just as desirable Annesley course, a shorter picturesque links.
The Championship links is surrounded by the naturally stunning setting of the Mountains of Mourne, with the fairways enveloped by purple heather and golden gorse. The ninth hole is one to be photographed. A 486 yard par 4, starting at one side of the mound down to a green 60ft below and 260 yards from the tee. A well established challenging link, with the record being unbroken since Jimmy Bruen in 1939 with a 66 set.
On the Annesley links at Royal County Down, the course scenery is much desired sharing in the beautiful backdrop of the Championship links. This course is smaller than the Championship links however just as challenging.
