Course overview
Rye Golf Club is set on the beautiful south coast of England, a private members club with two traditional links, the Old course and the Jubilee course.
Steeped in English history, Rye and Hastings golfers met to discuss the creation of a golf course. In 1893 it was decided that 'a Golf Club should be formed with the links to be over the Camber sand hills.
The first President's Putter was played by the Oxford and Cambridge Golfing Society in 1920, which became the biggest event in the Rye calendar. Players such as, Crawley, Montmorency, Darwin, Tolley, Miclem, Holderness, Tolley, Wethered were amongst the many that played.
In 1944 a flying bomb badly damaged the clubhouse. For a limited time the eight holes of the back nine was played during the Second World War. Anti-invasion measures saw major defences built on the first nine.
