Course overview

Deep among heathland in Surrey you will come across Walton Heath Golf Club. It may not be a name that jumps out, but the club proudly boasts that its Old Course has never dropped from the top 100 golf course rankings since they were first established in 1938. With the New Course equally equipped, Walton Heath is well deserving of an entry on your ‘must play’ list.   The two courses both have distance as a key element. The Old Course offers small greens to aim for, and while the New Course has slightly less length, the design takes in twice as many hazards, meaning accuracy is key – unless you’re happy to spend you day foraging amongst the masses of heather surrounding many of the fairways, greens and bunkers.   Equally impressive is Walton Heath’s hospitality, with visitors welcome at the clubhouse neighbouring the course. Having hosted the Ryder Cup in 1981 and now being the permanent home of US Open qualifying rounds, Walton Heath is a fine club to pit your wits with and being only five miles from Epsom and with easy access to the nation’s capital, it’s a great club to satisfy your golfing desires.
