Course overview

Moortown golf club holds a place in golfing history having been the first golf club in the UK and Europe to host the Ryder Cup, doing so in 1929. The club was founded in 1909 and was originally designed by world famous golf architect Dr. Alistair MacKenzie, who has an impressive CV of golf courses to his name including Augusta National and Royal Melbourne. The course today is set in over 175 acres of dramatically contrasting woodland and moorland and is not only regarded as one of the best golf courses in Yorkshire, but one of the best inland courses in the UK.
