Golf courses in Staffordshire

Staffordshire is a landlocked county in the West Midlands. Located in the heart of England, Staffordshire is an ideal base for golfing groups. Well connected to seven other counties with Stoke-on-Trent as the main city, there are also further connections to larger cities such as Manchester and Birmingham.

A county with a diverse landscape, it contains a number of Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty including Cannock Chase, the National Forest and areas of the Peak District.

The county is fairly undulating throughout. But the North and South of the county are particularly hilly with moorlands and the Pennines. The changes in terrain means there’s plenty of options in Staffordshire from a golfing point of view. In total, there are 50 golf courses in the county

Little Aston has to be the pick of them. The golf club is hidden away in the old grounds of Little Aston Hall, just 8 miles from the centre of Birmingham.

A beautiful, mature parkland, it’s recognised as one of the best in the UK & Ireland and also ranks in England’s Top 100. The course stretches to over 6,800 yards from the back tees and whilst challenging, it’s an honest course which rewards good play.

Beau Desert is another golf course in Staffordshire ranking in both the Top 100 in England and UK & Ireland. The course is located in stunning manicured grounds that once formed part of the Marquess’s Beaudesert Estate. It was designed by Herbet Fowler in 1913 and stands as a classic amongst other courses he created in England; The Berkshire, Walton Heath and Sauton to name a few.

Enville Golf Club would be our final pick in the region. It doesn’t quite have the same national recognition as the other two courses, but this heathland-parkland venue is home to two quality 18-hole golf courses.

The Highgate and Lodge are set in majestic woodlands, combining a mixture of open heathland and tree-lined fairways which provide an ideal environment for a round of golf.
