One of the historic courses to rotate hosting the Open, Royal Lytham St Annes is quite a deceptive course. It almost boasts of the fact that it is not as visually glamorous as some of its peers. However, appearances can be deceptive. The course is a beauty, links golf at its finest and most challenging, all wrapped up with a warm Lancastrian welcome.   The course is located a ten minute drive west of the town of Lytham, next to the River Ribble. While not boasting the same stunning scenery of other championship courses, this won’t bother you as you will be fully focussed on the challenges of the links course that has been largely unaltered over the last century. It’s a shorter course than some, but the 200 bunkers scattered around mean your sand wedge may well have one of its busiest days.   The clubhouse offers a friendly welcome to refresh yourself after walking in the shoes of golf’s legends. If staying at the course’s Dormy House is not within your budget, the ample amenities of Blackpool are only eight miles away, making Royal Lytham St Annes a golfing break to appeal to all the senses.
