Golf courses in City of London

There’s a lot going on in the English capital. It’s no surprise, being one of the biggest cities in the world with a population of nearly 12 million people.

When you think of London, images of vast urban spaces may spring to mind. But the demand for quality golf is such that there’s plenty of golf courses within easy reach of the capital that have set out to deliver.

In and amongst the skyscrapers, you can find the odd secluded woodland paradise that offers an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. As you head out further to Greater London and beyond, the quality of golf on offer only increases.

And with the transport infrastructure of a city such the size of London, getting around is easier than you think. There are even a number of golf courses close by to underground stations and train stations if you don’t fancy taking on the traffic in the car.

Our top pick in the City of London would have to be Royal Wimbledon Golf Club. Dating back to 1865, it’s actually the 3rd oldest golf club in England. The current course was designed by Harry Colt in 1924, and whilst it’s pretty much the same course today, it’s undergone a few tweaks to keep this within modern standards.

Royal Blackheath Golf Club is situated in South East London and is one of the courses easily accessible by rail, less than half a mile from Mottingham Station. It’s a beautiful 18-hole parkland course with a stunning 17th Century clubhouse that overlooks the golf course.

In the North of London, Hendon Golf Club and Finchley Golf Club are two great options just a few miles from one another. Both 18-hole parkland courses offer an excellent round of golf, with Finchley Golf Club rated one of the best in North London.
