Professional golfers on the PGA and European Tour may have a caddy to do this job for them but chances are you won’t. However, there are a great range of golf trolleys available on the market today which will do the job.

When considering which golf trolley to purchase, size is clearly going to be a factor. For many of us, we will be travelling to and from the golf course in a car without unlimited boot space. Once you throw your golf clubs in there, along with your golf shoes and a spare change of clothes, there’s not much space left for a golf trolley.

Fortunately, golf trolley manufacturers have put in the hours to develop trolleys with smart folding mechanisms meaning they can fit comfortably in the boot of your car. We’ve scoured the web for the smallest folding golf trolleys we can find to help you find your perfect solution!

10 Most Compact Golf Trolleys

We begin by taking a look at a range of push trolleys.

The Motocaddy Cube is made from aluminium and comes complete with adjustable handle height and foot parking brake. It features a simple two-step folding mechanism which makes this push trolley both easy to assemble and easy to store.

As the name suggests, this folding golf trolley is light, weighing in at just 8.45kg. 

The unique folding design allows the Clicgear 3.5 Lightweight Golf Trolley to fold down to a compact 60 x 38 x 33cm and it includes a large mesh pocket, drinks holder and umbrella holder.

The is also one of the smallest folding golf trolleys which comes in a range of different colours.

The BIG MAX IQ Trolley boasts a three-button system for folding the trolley and makes it easier than ever before. It takes just a few seconds and the front flip wheel can be rotated to further reduce the size of the trolley to 58 x 37 x 42cm. 

The trolly also features some additional accessories including a golf scorecard and bottle holder, in addition to a tee and pencil holder. 

This golf trolley is on the larger side of our smallest golf trolley collection, but it deserves it´s place as it comes with a patented bullet folding system which folds the trolley within 1 second! As well as being fairly compact, the trolley is lightweight as it’s made from high grade aluminium making it easy to maneuver on the course. 

The trolley also comes with a patented foot braking system which means it won’t go running off down hills whilst you putt out on the green! If that wasn’t enough, there’s also a built in umbrella holder as a bonus which will keep you dry when the weather isn’t the best.

It weighs 6.6kg, which is heavier than some of those above but keep in mind the SkyMax 2019 Cube 3 Wheeled Compact Golf Trolley has three wheels whereas the CRUISER GOLF CR-Micro Ultra Trolley has only two. 

It comes with top and bottom elasticated clip bungee bag straps plus a free umbrella holder and boot bag travel cover.

The Caddymatic Golf Quad 4-Wheel Golf Trolley is the first in this article which has four wheels. 

If you are looking for a small folding golf trolley which provides plenty of stability then look no further. Whatever the terrain, the Caddymatic Golf Quad 4-Wheel Golf Trolley remains easy to use yet it folds impressively to a small size (34 x 41.5 x 65cm) for transportation. 

Additional features include a scorecard, umbrella, ball and tee holder.

Electronic golf trolleys are typically bulkier than push trolleys as they need to accomodate a battery and motor. Despite this, we found a couple that were worth including in this list as they fold down to impressive sizes so you can enjoy the best of both worlds!

This golf trolley does all the work for you and the 30v Max Lithium Battery system makes walking around the golf course a breeze. It folds into a compact shape (51 x 43 x 38cm) using a basic two-step system. If that wasn’t enough, the PowaKaddy 2020 CT6 GPS 36 Hole Lithium Golf Trolley also boasts a fully integrated high-performance golf GPS. 

The 2.8” colour screen shows accurate distances to front, middle and back of green plus hazards. It also comes with a three-year warranty so you don’t have to worry should anything go wrong with the electronics on the trolley.

When using the GoKart Electric Golf Trolley Mark 2, all you need to do is hold the handle to walk with the trolley. 

It will match your pace as you are walking alongside the trolley and even if you let go of the handle it will continue to travel at the same speed. You can choose to have a lithium battery installed, which is much lighter than a standard battery and can last for up to 36 holes. 

The GoKart Electric Golf Trolley Mark 2 comes in a selection of three colours and can be folded down to a size of 66 x 60 x 29cm.

What to consider when buying a golf trolley

While size is a serious factor when buying a golf trolley, there are other aspects to take into account too.

Push or Electric

Arguably the most important consideration aside from the size of the golf trolley is how it will travel around the golf course with you.

Electric golf trolleys are typically a little bigger than push golf trolleys and they will come at a premium price. However, if you don’t want to do any of the work and prefer a nice relaxing game of golf then it’s worth the extra investment.

Weight

Even if you’re considering one of the smallest folding golf trolleys, you will still need to push it around the golf course. The likelihood is you will also need to travel with it from your home meaning packing the golf trolley into the car. 

Unless you’re storing the trolley at your golf club, make sure you consider the weight. Not only will this help you in transporting the trolley from the home to the course, but it’ll also help you conserve energy on your round of golf.

Material

Small folding golf trolleys tend to come in a choice of three different materials. 

• Aluminium is one of the lightest materials available for golf trolleys and is therefore very popular. However, it does tend to dent easily so you will need to keep this in mind when using the trolley. 
• Titanium is another lightweight metal used in the construction of golf trolleys and is tougher than aluminium. 
• The third material often used in the manufacture of golf trolleys is steel. This is very robust but can weigh more than the other two options.

Stability

The stability of a golf trolley tends to be based around the number of wheels on the trolley and the quality of the brakes. For example, a two wheel trolley will generally not be as stable as a three wheel trolley. 

A golf trolley which has strong brakes will give you peace of mind when you leave your bag next to the green that you won’t have to go running after it after a gust of wind!

Ease of Assembly

Most golf trolleys today are either three-piece detachable trolleys or fold-up designs. No modern golf trolley should be difficult to assemble but some can take longer than others due to their construction. 

Some will allow the wheels to be removed and this can make storage and transportation easier but they do take a little longer to assemble. Think about what is important for you.
