Golf courses in Northamptonshire

Northamptonshire is a landlocked county in the East Midlands. It has borders with a total of 8 other counties including the shortest border in England with Lincolnshire to the north east – which is just 20 yards!

Set in the heart of England, the largest towns include Northampton, Kettering and Corby.

It’s fair to say that the county is more well-known for its motorsport than its golf. Northamptonshire, alongside Oxfordshire, form part of England’s “Motorsport Valley” which is a global hub for the motorsport industry.

The county is home to some of the top Formula 1 teams including Mercedes and Force India. Mercedes-Benz High Performance Engines are also based in the county, as is perhaps one of the most famous racing tracks in the world, Silverstone.

All in all, the motorsport industry plays a huge part in day to day life for Northamptonshire, attracting over 2.1 million visitors per year and providing thousands of jobs.

From a golfing perspective, Northamptonshire has a total of 23 golf courses. But the county’s best offering is centred around the largest town on Northampton.

Northamptonshire County Golf Club, with over a 100 year history, is regularly considered the best in the region with inputs from both famous golf architects, James Braid and H.S Colt.

Collingtree Park Golf Club is another gem in the county in the area, just 3-4 miles from Northampton centre. It hosted the British Masters on two occasions, in both 1995 and 1996.
