Golf courses in Greater Manchester

Greater Manchester is a metropolitan county in the North West of England. It was created in 1974, and built up from areas of Lancashire, Cheshire and the West Riding of Yorkshire.

It’s a populous landlocked county with main metropolitan boroughs such as; Manchester, Boton, Salford, Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Stockport, Trafford, Tamside and Wigan. All together there are some 3 million inhabitants in Greater Manchester.

With so many people, comes many options for golf. Greater Manchester is home to 65 golf courses.

The best in the region is arguably Manchester Golf Club. It’s located in Middleton in 240 acres of countryside with the course beautifully designed to make the most of the moorland, heathland, parkland mixed land. The club has held many prestigious tournaments in their 140 years plus history.

Just down the road from Manchester Golf Club is another quality course in North Manchester Golf Club. Despite being just 3 miles from Manchester Golf Club the land is very different here with North being more of a classic parkland course. With rolling tree lined fairways, the course stretches to just shy of 6,500 yards.

Denton is another top pick in the area. It’s set to the East of Manchester and is recognised as one of the best parkland courses in the area. It also has great transport links, close to the M60 and M67 alongside Manchester City Centre, making it a popular club.
